Iro Goretti, born on the 10th October 1945 in Tuoro, on the Trasimeno Lake, has spent and still spends his life in this area. Although he hass had a passion for painting and sketching ever since he was a child, he began to paint quite late, about twenty years ago. Goretti's production can more or less be divided into two phases: the first one represents stylistic wanderings that led him to paint some splendid nighttimes of Passignano on the Trasimeno, a long series of harbours, some "macchiaiolo"-like pictures, others close to the impressionistic style; the second phase began after a period of silence; indeed, in 1997 the artist went through a period of artistic reflection thaa ended in 1999 with a completely mature and innovative style, where the technical control of the naturalistic representation and the mastery use of colours combine with a delicate expression of affections.
The new pictorial stroke developed by Goretti has earned him considerable success both amongst the public and critics, for his painting is rarely observed with indifferent.
